2024 Conference Wrap-Up

The 2024 Nonimaging Optics conference has concluded after three exciting, days featuring 31 talks from researchers around the world.

At the closing ceremony, Jeroen Cerpentier won the $500 best student and postdoc presentation award for his talk “Predicting freeform surface topologies for illumination applications via deep learning”. The award, sponsored by Synopsys Inc., recognizes outstanding student and postdoctoral research presentations.

Jeroen’s presentation showed how deep learning can be used to predict freeform optical surface designs, combining machine learning with optical engineering in an innovative way.

Congratulations to Jeroen and thanks to all presenters for making this year’s conference a success!
